Been looking for a Nardi set and some woodgrain to spruce up the old Ei for a while. Went from this

MUCH nicer, even feels a lot nicer to drive. I reckon it adds at least 20 horsepower :ninja:
Had to swap the cruise control over, as the original from mine (KF) is a 2 pin plug, the one this came from is a 3 pin plug. The extra plug is for the on/off switch, on my car that switch is on the dash not the cruise knob

You may notice the Nardi gear knob is missing in the photo's however, and now comes my dilema

I don't know if thats a Nardi thing or a year model thing?
The Nardi gear knob was held on by a 12mm nut, the metal shaft had a thread on it to accomodate it. Whilst the stock one had a screw on the side which faces the dash and thats all that holds it on. What's the best course of action here? I'm thinking of dremeling it out but wanted to see if there's a better course of action first (can I get the stem from the other car without dismantling huge amounts of trim?)

Are you talking about the button that you press in to select gears? I swapped out for a nardi gear shifter a while back in my KH. Was ok to,change out but i didnt have the correct button so had to get that from Japan

no not the button. Look at the metal shaft, the stock one has no thread on the end of it and is a different shape. like (]

Go to any wrecker and grab a shifter from a Verada (KH onwards) as the leather shifters have a nut at the top just like the one you need. If you are crafty with electrics, you can convert the car to tippy while you are there (which I did and used a chrome plated tippy shifter with the Nardi shifter)

So I need to remove the entire shifter for this? now its getting expensive. Though the one I pulled the gear knob from was chrome plated, and yes it was tiptronic. Don't remember what speed it was though
I'm going to need way more information. For instance what is this converting business? If its a 4 or 5 speed one does that cause issues? can I use a tiptronic shifter without actually using the 'tiptronic' part? What exactly is involved with making the tiptronic work? Are there any mounting issues?
I can remove wheels and gear knobs, I havn't removed shifters. And the verada manual is quite possibly the worst written one i've ever seen in my life.

what the heck is that? doesn't tell me anything. Doesn't even say what trim I need to remove to get to it. It's garbage. I will need a list of what to pull out. I'm not crash hot on spending ages pulling bits off everywhere for ages and spending even more money just for the sake of a threaded post

It is not hard, any magna which has the nut down the centre will work, ie no screw on the side. 4 bolts on the floor and the cable and out it comes. The console needs to come out which is a few scews

It would have been a GTV and would have been 5 speed. It does not matter what gearbox it is the shifter will still go in. You can fit the shifter to a non tiptronic car if you feel like it.

What exactly is involved with making the tiptronic work? you would need to replace the ECU in your KF car with one from a TF sports (even though it is a 3.0, the 3.5 didn't get a different shift program or engine map until the TH) and also splice in a small plug with around 10 wires to activate the shifter microswitches for the gear changes. The electrics are different, not the gearbox

basically, remove the lower console part with around 6 screws, then use a 12mm long socket to unbolt the shifter. The plastic console shifter surround lifts if you pull it from the back and then you can see everything in there.
