Hey people.
Noticed even with the old engine in, when i pressed the pedal the car wasn't very responsive.
Feels exactly the same with the new engine in. I'd press the pedal and the car would slowly take off but the pedal doesn't seem very responsive. I have to pretty much mash it down all the way for it to register and kick in. After i press the pedal far down the car will go down a gear and start flying.
Could this be a faulty TPS? Or a TCU?
Anyone got any idea? Or had a similar problem?

Most the time if i proceed off the lights, i'll have to press it down sometimes even halfway for it to start to pick up speed. And if i want to overtake someone i'll have to put it into 2nd and hammer it. Even my old Daewoo Espero 2.0 4cyl has more response than mine. So yeah something is definitely not right... :doubt:

there is that kick down switch on the pedal that will kick the auto in when you dont want to

slow reaction isnt the cable sticking
toss in a spare TCU and check the setting on the TPS

delay could be comming from the torque converter taking too much time to build up pressure or the auto oil pump

Hey mb sounds like what is happening. Thanks for your reply.
Especially this part "delay could be comming from the torque converter taking too much time to build up pressure or the auto oil pump" when you said that it sounds exactly what's happening.

Would it be best just to take it to a garage for them to check out?

you do a torque converter stall test

I dont know the specifications for your car

so I would suggest a good automatic repairer

if you dont know one I prefer to use Allstates Automotive Transmissions Pty Ltd

a nation wide company divisions in all capital cities

https://www.mynrma.com.au/cps/rde/xchg/mynrma/hs.xsl/Allstates_Automotive_Transmission.htm

this is how to do a stall test properly.........
for a V6 auto your specs should be close to 1800 -2800

Poor throttle response is either a bad dizzy advance, blocked intake or exhaust. Had an exec that used to have such a touchy throttle that it used to bunny-hop over bumps sometimes.

Time went on and the cat slowly collapsed, so the throttle response got doughy. Replaced the cat because it was rattling, throttle response came back.

Cheers

could also be a mis-set or faulty TPS.
